What to pack
> What to pack

Packing for your journey abroad can feel overwhelming, but getting it right sets the tone for a smooth start to your new chapter. Focus on the essentials first, travel documents, including your passport, visa, university offer letter, and financial statements, should always be kept in your hand luggage and never packed in checked baggage.

When it comes to clothing, pack for the climate of your destination rather than Sri Lanka’s. Countries like the UK, Canada, Germany, and New Zealand experience cold winters, so thermal wear, a good winter jacket, and waterproof footwear are necessities. Everyday items such as prescribed medications, a small first aid kit, and a reasonable supply of familiar toiletries are also worth bringing, as finding specific brands abroad can be difficult initially.

Beyond the physical, make sure your digital essentials are in order, an unlocked mobile phone, a universal travel adaptor, a laptop, and copies of all important documents stored securely in cloud storage will serve you well from day one.
